For the hubster’s birthday, the first gift I gave him was – I did not suffocate him with a pillow while he slept. I thought this was a very generous gift. Especially since he was snoring like a freight train. Seriously, like 2am on the 2nd, I was on my computer working on continuing education for my license because there was no way I could sleep with so much racket.
Yesterday afternoon/evening, there was a Transformers marathon in my living room. That was fine and all, except for excited children who are very loud. I was tired and wanted to go to bed early. I had the fan on, a pillow over my ears, and everything I could think of; and could still hear the loud people.
This morning my alarm went off at 4:15 and I almost threw it through the wall. But I got up. These wee hours of the morning are very important during summer break. I can get a lot of work done between 4am and 9am when the kids are sleeping!
Fireworks are tonight and tomorrow night. I’m going to keep plowing ahead with work too. I am finally caught up after being behind for many, many weeks. I kept saying it was a month . . but I think it was many weeks more than that. Anyway, I’m finally caught up and I intend on getting ahead even! I need some breathing room. Then I’ll sleep . . . maybe.
With my complaining (thanks for bearing with me here!) I am thankful. I am thankful for a comfy bed to sleep in. I am thankful for a noisy house filled with people I love. I am thankful for enough work to keep me up at night (or early morning) that keeps my business and our family thriving. I am thankful for the freedom in this country to work, to live, and to celebrate life. I am thankful for two different firework shows close to my house! And I am thankful that even in my slightly grumpy, sleep-deprived state . . I still have so much to be thankful for! And naming those things here certainly cuts down on the grumpies. I’ll be the yawning girl at the fireworks show tonight . . and I’ll be the happy, yawning girl; for I am truly blessed.
