My Molly is old. She is 11 years old. That’s getting up there for a pitbull. That’s even more up there for a pitbull who had a major surgery in her life because of a mean hunter.
She does pretty good for her age, but her age shows. For the past week or so, she’s had a limp. At first it seemed to be her shoulder. I rubbed some oils on it and tried to keep her from running around too much. She was extra stiff first thing in the morning. But once she got moving, she was a little better.
The last few days she’s acted like it was more her paw that was hurting her. Yesterday, during the garage sale, she was up and down a lot! All day. And by last night she was limping pretty bad. I inspected her foot, and it was fine. It seems to be a tendon or ligament in her leg that is hurting her.
I had two kids sleep in the living room with Molly last night, and she still snuck upstairs. She loves to sleep with the kids in their beds. This morning she stood at the top of the stairs, scared to try to come down. The kids called me to come and get her. I carried her down the stairs and then out to the grass to go potty.
We have a little cot that usually stays up in the attic. It was brought down to the living room last night for a kiddo sleeping. Today we put a sheet over it and it became Molly’s bed. She was given her own pillow too 🙂 On her own bed, in the living room with “her” kids all day, she has stayed pretty still – resting her leg. Yesterday I ordered her a leg brace from Amazon prime that will be here tomorrow. Hopefully all this rest and her new brace will help her stay still enough to heal!
Tonight I am thankful that Molly’s own bed has her resting! She is a very determined doggy who loves the kids. She has troubles laying down and let them go off without her. Tonight she has a kid sleeping in the living room again to keep her company. (And I’m closing off the stairs!
She also has the envy of the other two dogs in the house! (As noted in the photo below where she is joined by the lovely Calypso!)
