Scrolling

I knew I shouldn’t do it.  I knew I shouldn’t.  But I did it anyway.

I commented on some stupid post on Facebook, arguing with an ignoramus.  Ok, now here’s the thing; I wouldn’t just attack someone’s intelligence.  I.Q. is not a measuring tool for people.  I tend to have an issue with people who bask in their own narrow-minded bliss to where they are always right.  No one is right all the time.

Some of the smartest people I’ve ever met KNOW that they aren’t right all the time.  They listen, they think, and then they come to a conclusion.  That is a wise person.

There are lots of verses out there concerning fools.  And a lot have to do with things like this:  “Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinion.”  Proverbs 18:23.

I was pretty sure when I read this guy’s post that he was talking just to talk.  But I thought, maybe he just didn’t understand.  So I tried to explain a different way of thinking about the same topic.  Nope, he had no interest in understanding.  I understand his comments were based on a straight line of logic; which unfortunately kept blinders on lots of other ways a thing could be done.  He did not understand that my comments did not call his way wrong; but called his way limited and that there were other choices.

I try to always leave a door open to the possibility that I am wrong about something.  In this particular case, my business of 12 years has not failed . . . so I’m not wrong.  See, it can be proven here.

Ugh . . tonight I am thankful for the times when I have been smart enough to just walk away from an argument I can’t win.  Hindsight is 20/20, but I wish I would have just kept scrolling tonight!
