Plan of Attack #1 for our Operation Take Back the House was a success! Yesterday morning we rounded up all the laundry and went to the laundromat.
We got a few evil looks from other laundromat-goer’s. We took up quite a few washing machines and dryers. BUT, of course we left plenty for the other customers!! Still, we may have breached some sort of laundromat etiquette perhaps??
I was very relieved that our laundry wasn’t in quite the state I thought it was. The kids’ floors had scared me, honestly. The house rule is that I will not gather up their dirty laundry. They are responsible for bringing the dirty stuff downstairs. Once in the laundry room, the kids take turns with chores – and mom helps out. Seems easy enough, right? Well, they don’t bring it down often. The laundry sits on their floor and scares me that it might be growing things.
Yesterday we found out that there were several blankets in those piles. And a lot of winter clothes that were supposed to have been put up for the summer. We did still give a lot of stuff to Goodwill! So the plan that not everything would return home was a good one! AND of the stuff that came home, the majority of it went up in to the attic to await colder weather!
Tonight I am thankful that Plan of Attack #1 in Operation Take Back the House was a success! I am also seriously thankful that our clothes situation was a lot more in control than I had thought. I had been mentally reviewing my clothes purchases for the past many month, wondering if I really supplied my children with so many clothes!! And a lot of it was blankets . . . blankets! Phew!
