I am usually a garage sale shopper. A person can find some great deals that way! My job is a bonus, that it puts me in the path of many garage sales for months and months!
This summer I have exercised great self-control with not even stopping. We have enough stuff in this house; too much stuff to be exact. No matter what the deal, it isn’t something that we can’t live without.
This afternoon I had a listing appointment with a lovely couple. They had a lovely home. And they had a beautiful and peaceful piece of property! I was just in a good mood when I left. So I decided to follow a garage sale sign.
I’ll be honest, when I saw where the sign pointed, I was intrigued. I had always wanted to see what was down that driveway! Turns out there is a very lovely house and a beautiful pond! Anyway, the garage sale had lots of stuff by the garage. Over by the barn there was another pile of random stuff. I meandered over there and saw a painted picture for one dollar.
I liked it immediately! It could be one of my girls chasing a butterfly on a bright, summer’s day! Of course my girls are bigger now than the girl in the picture. But I can still see them that size, content to spend the afternoon just chasing butterflies 🙂
Tonight I am thankful for this $1 picture today. I brought it home; although I’m not quite sure where I’m going to hang it. I’ll find the perfect place for it this weekend. And I think this is one that I’ll smile at, every time I walk by it!
