I thought I was done with the streamlining work endeavours for this year. I did not think I was at absolute maximum productivity and organization. But I thought I’d made enough large steps forward for the time being; and I should then work on some other things. Boy was I wrong!
A blessing of my job, both businesses actually, is that I don’t need the overhead of an office with furniture and equipment for those working for me. Thanks to the beauty of the internet, those who work with me can do so in their pj’s at their own homes. This works well for me on many different levels!
This can create some situations for me to get better too! I wrote a couple of nights ago about me getting new help with my businesses. Her assignment on Friday was to familiarize herself with some of my files and emails; and bring me questions. Her first question had me stumped. She asked how she would know some information. The answer – there is no way she could know. The answers she would need are hand written on papers which are sorted by piles at my desk. Uh-Oh. I hadn’t foreseen this issue. I told her I would work on this over the weekend and have an answer for her on Monday.
My alarm went off this morning to take my son for his early morning football pictures before his game. I should have gotten right up and started getting ready. Instead I woke up thinking about this issue! So I laid in bed and researched on my phone. I read reviews on programs. I looked at how some programs worked. And I decided on Trello. The funny thing is that I think I looked at this program before just for myself and decided to stick with my more antiquated self-serving method.
Today was pretty packed with events. But I’ve managed a little time to experiment with this new program and I think it will work out very well. I expect it to not only help convey information to my new helper; but it looks like it will also help keep me more organized and on track!
Tonight I am thankful for so many things! I am thankful for the new help (and my existing help!!). I am thankful for the new questions to push me to get better. I am thankful for the internet which makes my jobs so much easier. And I am thankful for the fantastic free options available that give the assistance that I need! (There is a subscription based option with Trello also; but I’m not really sure what you get for the money there . . . so I can’t really say much on that!)
