A good part of my job for the past 12 years has been going in to empty, foreclosed houses with no power. That means I go in to creepy basements and sometimes creepy attics. Some of the houses are cleaned out. Some of them have stuff all over. Sometimes I go in the sunshine. Sometimes I go on dark, overcast days in the rain.
I’ve never been a fan of horror movies or haunted houses. And my chosen profession cements the notion that I should avoid those things. I don’t think I could do my job if I had all sorts of scary things flying thru my mind. The situations I am in are sometimes challenging enough!
But tonight . . ah tonight . . my daughter was working in a haunted house at the school. Of course I had to go!
So tonight I am thankful that the haunted house wasn’t too scary since she told me who was working there and what to expect! And I am thankful that my remaining kiddos weren’t too scared either!
P.S. The following is from earlier this afternoon. I call it: me coming to terms with the fact that I was going to a haunted house. The things we do for our children!!
