Alright, alright, alright! I needed a week to recoup from practices and games and all that fall sports bring with it. That was last week.
Today, we got back on track with our dinner planning. Meals for the week are posted in the kitchen, with one kiddo helping each day. Homework is done (I think) and ready for tomorrow. The calendar is updated for November on paper and on the family calendar app.
There was one large area that needed attention still . . . the budget. We had a talk with the kiddos today about the family budget. We allowed extra spending money thru football season. We knew with football games every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that we would be supporting concession stands! But now we are getting back on track!
An exciting thing today was helping the two older kids with their savings budgets. It is time for some kids in this family to start thinking about their first cars. Personally, I was 12 when I started saving for my first car. So we talked about what the older two would like to be able to afford for their first cars. We looked at what they have saved already. And we found these nifty savings-goal sheets to help them keep track along the way! This came from a really neat site! It has goal sheets to keep track of paying off existing debt and saving for future goals! You can check it out here: http://www.josephsangl.com/2007/01/01/pay-off-savings-spectaculars/
I know we have lots of steps left to really feel like the household is back under control. For instance, I was going to go thru all the cheerleading stuff this weekend . . but it is still piled in my laundry room. I’m ok with it though, I did sleep in both mornings this weekend! Baby steps are good with me! We’ll get there eventually!
Tonight I am thankful for starting to get things back under control! And I am thankful for finding this neat site to help the kids get their goals defined and measurable!!
