I love all the empowered women stuff out there. As a woman, I love it. As a mother of two girls, I love it. As a mother of two boys, I hesitate.
I want my girls to know that they are powerful. I want my boys to know the same thing.
I want my girls to know that they can do anything. I want my boys to know the same thing.
I want my girls to know that they should never back down from anything they believe in. I want my boys to know the same thing.
I want my girls to know that everything that is special about them is precious and unique and to be respected. I want my boys to know the same thing.
I want my girls to know that it is ok to cry, to take breaks, and to recharge. I want my boys to know the same thing.
I want my girls to know that it doesn’t make them weak to have compassion and empathy. I want my boys to know the same thing.
Tonight I am thankful for the movement of empowering women. And I am thankful that in this house the goal is to empower people, all people.
