Maybe he’s tired because we had such an awesome time?! Maybe its because his Mom made him get up a little after 7am during summer vacation?! Regardless, I find it a bit satisfying that he needs to rest after our day of fun!
It has been some years now since we started doing a Christmas present of an adventure or experience. I absolutely love this present for the kids! They get to try something new! I get one on one time with them since the hubster isn’t very adventurous. And it gives them something to look forward to past Christmas!
Today we went to Wheels on Rails in Grawn, Michigan. This place has only been open since Memorial Day weekend. I loved hearing how this took years to become real – with the owner needing to negotiate leasing the decommissioned railroad space from the state, and obtaining permits, equipment, etc. She was there today, which was nice too. The staff was nice. They are listening to customer feedback, as they want this to be the best that it can be!
On the way home we meandered along, looking for more places to explore. We had lunch. And we found a park on the Muskegon River. We went down to the river bank, contemplated swimming – but it was pretty shallow, walked barefoot thru the water and on a fallen log, and relaxed on a swinging bench. It was a good day!
Tonight I am thankful for a kiddo Christmas experience/adventure day! The others are coming up, scattered throughout the summer. We’ll keep having fun! ❤️
