Test!

We spent a portion of Friday Night taking unit tests! Well, my kiddo did. When I say “we”, I mean myself included from a teacher stand point.

This is an aspect of homeschooling that I decided to indulge in more this year – intentionally letting the schedule change to fit our lives more. Last year, I really worked at a reliable structure. Then came the epiphany that it wasn’t really needed. I’m an adult who works well over 40 hours per week and my schedule is rarely structured. So maybe chasing structure for schooling shouldn’t have been as high on the priority list as I made it.

So far the results are good. We laid out rules at the beginning of the school year. If certain standards weren’t being met, then the school day would become more like last year. So far the quiz and homework scores are considerably higher! And when I grade the tests, we’ll see if this carries over in to testing as well!

Tonight I am thankful for testing on a Friday night! 🤣 No, seriously! Although not ideal, this seems to be working! Even if I’m pretty tired by the time we get to the testing! At least my job at this point is minimal! 😅
