One year my brother graduated high school and left for the Navy. The next year I graduated and moved to Oklahoma for college. My mom told me that she prayed and asked God, “Well, now what? ” She thought her journey of being a mom in action was pretty much wrapped up. And she heard her in her soul that she wasn’t finished, her duties (if you want to call them that) were simply changing.
Tomorrow my girl is getting married. And I’ve been trying to not get too emotional. Tonight was about trying to get her to laugh, since the stress of planning everything is growing on her shoulders. Tomorrow will be about helping her, calming her, and being there for her, as she marries the love of her life!
Tonight I won’t cry (goodness, I wrote that and my eyes teared up). Tonight I choose to be thankful for all of the wonderful life we have lived so far! And I choose to be thankful for the wonderful life she is starting tomorrow! Tonight I am thankful that I always get to be here for my girl no matter where she is or what she is doing. She is a piece of my heart and my heart always has room to grow as our family grows! ❤
P. S. I am going to be an awesome Mother-In-Law!! My Mom once asked my Grandma what her secret was, with being an amazing Mother-In-Law! And, I will share the answer here with you tonight! My Grandma said, “Just love them! ” I can do that!
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
I can do that. I can love them ❤
