Foot Long Meter & Customs Stop

My second oldest kiddo and I are on an adventure!! A little background; when my oldest was a senior in high school and wanted senior pictures during every season, I said I would take the pictures because I wasn’t going to hire a photographer in all four seasons. My clever kiddo then suggested that we take a trip with the $$ that would have been spent on a photographer. Of course I said yes! One on one time with my kiddos when they are turning all adultish, and a trip! Yes Please!!

My senior who graduated this past spring wants to see Vermont in the fall. So this trip had to be appropriately timed! Here we are in the fall and we left today when he was done with work!!

So far I can say that I had underestimated what we needed to cross the Canadian border. I had researched just a smidge. . . Should have spent more time on that. Well, I can say that the customs people were very nice. And they did allow us passage in to their fine country!

Driving with kilometers is a little different. But, totally manageable. All was going well, until we stopped for sandwiches. I opened my mouth to order a d wondered, are they called foot long sandwiches here?? These people use the metric system!! And, I usually say “American Cheese”, no way it has the same name here!! Well, I just ordered sandwiches. The nice lady asked, ” foot long? ” And I told her yes. Question number one, answered! But I had no clue for the cheese! I just pointed and we were good. I may never know the answer to the second question!!

Tonight I am thankful for yummy Canadian sandwiches! And I am super thankful we were allowed across the border! We are planning a different way home. And I will be more prepared next time!! I’ve been thinking we should just get everyone their passport so we have no limitations. That idea just got bumped up on my to-do list!!
