There are things in life that I do well. Then there are things that I don’t do so well.
Almost a month ago I got acrylic nails for the 3rd time in my life (I think it is 3rd). My girl kiddos know that number better than me . . but I’m pretty sure it is 3rd. Anyway, for my birthday I got the nails “filled”. That was definitely my first time doing that.
I love the durability of the acrylics! I didn’t break a nail in the whole past month! And I am pretty hard on my hands. Just yesterday I cut my knuckle with a pair of scissors while cutting my kiddos’ hair. I have no idea how many scars I have on my hands. It gets boring counting them.
Anyway, it was time for my nails to become my real nails again. My typing time has been sooo much slower over the past month! And the nails were getting to where they needed to be filled again. So, it was time for them to go, as I don’t plan on maintaining the acrylics with fills every two weeks.
I had asked my kiddos. I did some research online. I bought the acetone that was recommended. I soaked my fingers. I stabbed at my nails with metal tools. I got a hand cramp trying to push on my nails with the metal tools to loosen the acrylics. And after two whole hours, I finally had the nails off! I didn’t do the best job with it. But, well . . nails grow out. And they’ll be good as new in a couple months, right? It’s ok. I covered up the impurities with sparkles!!
Tonight I am thankful that I got the nails off!! This little episode has convinced me that next time, I need to go in to get these removed. I could have saved myself a little time and probably a bit of mild pain. But, they are off! So, I call it a win! And already, my typing speed has increased!
