Tomorrow morning a kiddo and I will be boarding a U-Haul and driving to a small town in Pennsylvania. Why, you might ask. Well, because I need to install a handicap ramp on my office building and those things are ridiculously priced!!!
I found several used ones. But, we need quite a bit of distance, since the code is one foot of ramp for every inch of height. In my opinion, it’s overkill. My dainty grandma used to push my solid grandpa just fine on ramps that were built to the prior code of one foot for every two inches. But, I’m not up for fighting against the state building code department, so I’ll just have a really long ramp.
The price of this used ramp in good condition, plus U-Hual rental, plus gas, plus food, plus a night in Punxsutawney (for fun!); and I will still be saving around $6000 from a new ramp.
Tonight I am thankful for a much better price on a ramp than what I had been quoted new. I was thankful for a quote to begin with honestly, as even that took awhile. And now to end with a better price is wonderful!
