I have a horrible poker face! This makes it pretty darn hard to surprise people. I usually give it away myself, no matter how much planning goes in to it. But today, I had a great plan for a surprise!
My birthday girl has wanted to get her nostril pierced for some time. I had actually talked to the hubster and we had agreed that she could get this done well over a month ago . . maybe closer to two or three months ago. But, it seriously wasn’t at the top of my list of to-do’s. So, it kept sitting at the bottom of the list.
Today was the perfect day for it! We were going thrifting. Our favorite is the Goodwill in Dewitt. So, it is a little bit of time in the car. I had made an appointment for the piercing and made it seem like we were taking a back way to Goodwill to look for something for the birthday kiddo’s sister.
We pulled up to a driving school (two doors down from the piercer) and I told the birthday girl that I had made her an appointment for her driver’s test! Surprise! She momentarily freaked a little. And I got to smile and totally let my face make all kinds of expressions, pretending to be excited for her to take her driver’s test as a birthday surprise! 🤣
It took a bit to get her out of the car, as she was going a little nuts about a surprise driving test! Then I started walking in the direction of the piercer, while videoing the birthday kiddo! The sister kiddo was in the video, then she got distracted by this onion in the parking lot; further confusing the birthday kiddo! When we were in front of the store, then I got a smile, when she asked if we were there to get her piercing done! 🙂 It was great! And I didn’t ruin it!!
Tonight I am thankful for a good surprise for my birthday kiddo! I am thankful that I didn’t spoil the surprise! And I am thankful that even this silly parking lot onion helped in the surprise, by throwing off the attention from the piercing establishment! It was great! And my birthday kiddo is super happy with her new jewelry!
