I was going to wait to write this blog . . but it seems like now is a good time. I’m going to put a little spin on it, so I can write it more with the story a bit later, closer to Christmas.
I am seeing so many opportunities online! These are opportunities to help others have a Christmas that they wouldn’t normally have. Sometimes when we get closer to Christmas, it is harder to find these opportunities. So now seemed like a time to mention what a blessing it is to help others have a good Christmas!
There are trees with gift desires placed around our Lansing Area. There are a few facebook groups of people needing help, specifically with Christmas needs. There are toy drives. And I’m sure there are many more opportunities to help out there!
When I was a kid, my Mom, brother, and I were the recipients of a local church’s Christmas blessing! The amusing details are one of my favorite Christmas stories to tell – this is the part that I will share again closer to Christmas! The amusing details are so much my favorite that I wrote them in to a book last Christmas! I am actually having the cover redone as we speak for this holiday season! I didn’t like how it came out looking like some holiday thriller . . that was just how our house looked . . . which could play in to the story a bit I guess, as we didn’t have much.
Anyway, tonight I am thankful for the opportunity to be a blessing to others at Christmas time, and all year long! I am thankful that we were once the receivers of such blessings, as I will never forget the kindness of others during those times! And I pray that you get to bless someone this Christmas too! Christmas started with a gift! And we can feel that Christmas spirit that people strive so much for, when we give of ourselves and of our hearts to bless others!
P.S. If you wanted, here’s a link to my book. But, take note the cover will be looking different soon!!
