A Natural

We had went to a client appreciation party at a veterinary clinic. I think he was maybe six years old. His younger brother was around three years old. I usually went with the kiddos in to the bouncy house things. But this time, it was a bouncy maze thing and I thought I would let them go without me. I told him to watch out for his younger brother and keep him safe. I watched as another kid was not paying attention, running straight towards his younger brother. He reached out his arm, grabbed the other kid by the head, and threw him down. I was in shock! When they got out, I asked him why he did that!? He looked at me with a blank look on his face. I explained what he did, and he had no recollection! He is a natural protector. His instincts are to protect first, without thought.

When he said he wanted to join the military, I was certainly not surprised. I had watched this kiddo for years. It fit.

Then, his shoulder got injured during wrestling. I talked to the doctor, the therapist, anyone who was part of the healing plan; this kiddo had dreams and we needed his team to work towards them. They were all on board. God led us to one of the best of the best doctors and a physical therapist who had the utmost confidence that he could be back to where he was. And they got him there!

He was supposed to be leaving today. But there’d been a delay with verifying his medical stuff and his degree of healing. He has the paperwork, revised to current times that he is good. Tomorrow the military doctor will verify. Then, he will finally swear in and get his updated date to leave. *sigh* I am happy for him to chase his dreams, truly I am! I will deal with the other emotions when I need to.

Tonight I am thankful for my kiddo being able to chase his dreams! I am thankful for God’s protection of him, because I will be praying like crazy! And I am quite thankful for this delay . . it gives me a little more time in between kiddo departures!
