I think I have this face thing figured out . . maybe. So, there is definitely nerve damage. But, I no longer think that the nerve is what is causing me these shooting pains, instant migraines, and ridiculous tiredness.
Last Thursday I got the stitches removed. The lady said “I think I got them all.” and did NOT look confident. That did not make me confident!!! When I got home, there was a huge shooting pain where the stitch was removed by my eye. I figured my face was getting used to the strings not being there and just rested.
This past weekend, I was checking out the healing in-progress and saw a speck of blue. FIVE. There were five strings still in my face! 😠 I only had seven stitches total! So with my tweezers and mirror, I removed the remaining strings. One of these strings was in my eyelid.
Do you know how your vein gets all mad and bruised when you have to get blood drawn? Well, that is what is going on at my eyelid, right above the corner of my eye. I am under the distinct impression that a vein in my eyelid was accidentally sewn in to with my eyelid stitch. Think of how many times a day you blink, or when you look around, how your eye moves around. Yep, this would be how my eye gets irritated and the pain shoots up my eye socket to my forehead causing lots of not fun times.
Tonight I am thankful that the stitches are out of my face! The healing can continue! I am also so super thankful and proud of my body – pushing those strings right up to my skin for me to find was very helpful!
And I am very hopeful that maybe once this vein by my eye heals, that the shooting pain and migraines can end! The nerve could take awhile if it wants; the heaviness and lack of feeling is livable. It can take its sweet time if the pain stops! 😊
