Last year I had finally published my absolute favorite Christmas story from when I was a kid! It was my first time publishing anything, so I spent a bit of time working on the story itself and then formatting and all that. I really didn’t spend a lot of time on the cover. The result, in my opinion, was that my book looked like a Christmas thriller. 🫨
I had just used a picture of our old house with the title and author on the cover. The problem with that was that our old house was not that pretty looking. I mean it was during the time when we couldn’t tell anyone where we lived because the county would have condemned the house. So, it wasn’t going to look too pretty. The sky being all grey didn’t help the picture any. Then the title having “shotgun” in it . . well, it did NOT depict the story very well.
People say don’t judge a book by it’s cover. But, since it is my book, I’m totally allowed to judge it, right? I actually do have a vision for this cover, so it will probably change one more time. For now, this will work.
Tonight I am thankful for an upgrade in cover for my favorite ever Christmas story! I’ll have to get the updated book for my Mom now, since she is the star of the story!!
