One of the great things that my Mom did for my brother and I at Christmas is telling us about Santa. She told us that he wasn’t real, but that some people thought he was, so we would keep it quiet to them. But, we could have fun with the idea of Santa like a game!
And that’s what I’ve done with my kiddos! It works great! We’ve talked about the actual Saint Nicholas too; he was good!
When Elf on the Shelf came along, we added that to our holiday games. They knew he wasn’t real. But it was fun to see where he would be from day to day. As the kiddos got older, they took turns with Tinsel the elf also 🙂
At the beginning of December I wasn’t doing super great. I asked the kiddos if they cared if Tinsel came out, because it would have been a lot for me. They were “meh” about it. I asked if Tinsel should go to a new home with smaller kiddos and there was a resounding NO! 😊
Tonight I am thankful for our holiday games 🎅 And I am thankful that Tinsel stopped in to see the kiddos one time before Christmas this year! 😁
