HippieFest 2024! That is where I was today! Me and a kiddo bought our tickets months ago! Then it just so happened that my brother was in town, so he came too! This was our second year going.
Here’s what I have surmised – if I had been alive during the times of the original hippies, I would have spent time with them. I probably wouldn’t have been one. I don’t partake in the extracurricular activities, but I love the vibes of peace and love.
There were two prayers groups that I saw there today, spreading love. With the political and social crap going on today, being at a hippie festival, I loved hearing the prayer people just praying! They weren’t pushing their opinions or backhanded condemnation; they were just loving on people and being there for them! I love those vibes of peace and love.
I loved the movie Jesus Revolution. That is where I would see myself if I were alive during the original hippie time. I mean, a group of people who question doing things because that is how they were done, a group of people who wanted peace and love, and maybe searched for it in the wrong places with those extracurricular activities. But someone with an open and raw heart is a blessing!
Tonight I am thankful for HippieFest. I know, I know, original hippies had a lot going on. More than my views on them. But, these are the parts I choose to give importance to, because people are people; and all have a heart that appreciates peace and longs for love, no matter how we try to bury that.
