Changing

Oh boy, I am changing my mind!  I had found the next bike challenge for myself, right?  I got the mountain racing bike I researched for.  Today was my first bike ride.  Next would be signing up for the bike race in June!

BUT, here is what dawned on me today: 1) when I did the Dalmac, it was riding north.  So much so, that when my kiddo and I trained on long days, we went South and North. 2) This race is a giant loop, in which the ending miles would all be west.  West, where the wind comes from.  And not just any west; this is west to the Michigan coastline.  Where the wind is bigger anyway because of the lake.

Gotta tell ya, I’m not as excited about this race now.

Reasons have been piling up, as to why this may not be the best idea right now.  And I think this biking in to the lake effect wind thing, might just be the final thing that changes my mind.

Tonight I am thankful for the option to change my mind!  Thankfully I hadn’t signed up/paid yet.  Nor had I booked hotels/AirBnb’s yet.   

I think instead, I may just create my own race/goal.  There are some long trails around here, and neighboring counties.  I have this racing mountain bike now!  I think I’ll plan my own route, pick a date (a better date!), pack a sandwhich, and go away for a day! That sounds sooooo much better!!
