I have decided to name my gallbladder, Geebes. Gall Bladder = GB. GB = Geebes. Kind of like Jeeves, the fictional character who was actually good. Unfortunately Geebes (my gall bladder) is a moody individual who irritates me.
Geebes first made a disturbance in my life in 2018. After a multi day fast, I had Pizza Hut. I hadn’t researched how to correctly end a fast. So that one was on me, for pissing off Geebes. There was Geebes’s first ever fit thrown at that point.
Geebes stayed pretty quiet for the next several years, until the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. Here’s the kicker, I didn’t even know it was Geebes until . . . TODAY!! At that time I had an accident and had stitches above my eye that pulled on a nerve every time I moved my eye. I had constant migraines for around two months. During that time, no food sounded good. I lived on tortillas. I didn’t know why. But I had bigger issues with trying to use my eyes without getting a headache while my face healed. I slowly was able to eat other food. And all was right with the world.
Geebes made a slight fuss every now and then. Then last August, after I had a small procedure done, Geebes was just being flat out RUDE!
Fast forward to about two moths ago and Geebes has been throwing fits left and right. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason. Over the course of some months I went to the emergency room once, the doctor’s office twice. There was no real help for me. I was told it sounded like my gall bladder, but <insert a variety of non-helpful things>.
Several weeks ago I had a migraine and you would think that Geebes had a migraine!!! But, if you google “migraines and gall bladders” there isn’t really a corralation. Why? Because Google is thinking only gall stones.
About two weeks ago, after my 15 mile bike ride, in which I was bent over to reach the racing handle bars; Geebes got very, very mad. Yesterday I was in my car for around five and a half hours, with only a few small stops. And last night I was h-u-r-t-i-n-g. Geebes was very, very unhappy about the car time.
After several hours Geebes hadn’t settled down. So we went in to the Emergency room. Morphine and another pain killer later, I could still feel Geebes being an a#$!*)&. The tests didn’t show stones. I was about to cry. Same ole’, same ole’ Fortunately, I had a very, very nice doctor. Sometimes gallbladders are just mean. They can swell. They can spasm. The problem doesn’t always have to be stones. So after there was no signs of stones, she still asked if I wanted it out. YES! I could have hugged her!!!
I am thankful I was fasting this week. Fasting is not the best for gall bladders. I was taking extra apple cider vinegar to avoid any issues there, and that did good! The lack of food actually proved that the reactions here are not all food related. Geebes does seem to detest some foods more than others. But, migraines and being squished and jostled in a car seem to upset Geebes more than food. That is logical since Geebes does not have stones, but is enlarged and spasming like a fricking idiot in there!!!
Tonight I am very, very thankful for a good doctor last night! She has an appointment for me with a surgeon on Monday!! Prayers are appreciated that the surgeon is as understanding and nice as her! I am getting closer to evicting Geebes!!!
I am also thankful for a dear friend who kept on me about getting help ❤️ I did need the follow up because I was not being persistent about getting answers. She has been a great supporter and encourager!
OH, and the tortilla correlation? This morning I had Club crackers, that Geebes wasn’t in love with. I had some yogurt, that Geebes was like “meh” about. Then, I thought, Hey, I’ll have a tortilla. That is bland and worked in the past for me. Geebes loved the tortilla!!!! I ate three! THREE! One right after the other with no negativity!!! And that is when it dawned on me from when I had my stitches above my eye! Migraine, mad tummy, tortillas were tolerable . . . that is the work of angry Geebes!!!!! Well now that mystery is solved!!! I seriously never knew and the issue had resolved itself (when the migraines stopped), so I didn’t spend a lot of time pondering that life mystery.
