Creeper

First, the picture of the sleeping cat is because it is less creepy than what happened today.

Today I was appraising a duplex. My notes said that the tenant in one unit had a dog. But, he would be there to contain his dog. Ok, that is fine.

I got to the place and knocked on the door. I waited a few minutes and knocked again. No one answered the door and no dog barked. So, I thought maybe the guy took the dog for a walk. I used the key in the lockbox and let myself in. Once inside I yelled out “appraiser” two times. Nothing.

So I started going thru the unit, taking pictures and notes. I got to the third room and there was the dog, sitting in a crate, with the crate door open. The dog just looked at me, never barked. Ok.

I kept going, and when I got to the last bedroom, I opened the door, and there was someone sleeping in the bed. 🙄 They never woke up. I took my last picture of the bedroom and let myself back out.

Crazily enough, this is NOT the first time this has ever happened to me.

Tonight I am thankful that MOST people wake up when someone knocks on their door or yells inside their home. I have worked hard on not feeling creepy when I go thru someone else’s home. But, when I do it when they are sleeping, I definitely feel like a creeper!
