Traveling Solo

Day One is in the books!! I didn’t do quite as much adventuring today as I had planned. But that is ok. I slept in until almost 8, which was good. It was good to be rested before leaving! Then I packed, and left around 9:20.

I stopped a few places. And I ended up driving a little farther this evening towards my destination to find a hotel that fit my criteria. ๐Ÿ™‚ Tomorrow will have more play time. I have four specific places I want to stop tomorrow!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Leading up to this I’ve had a few questions asked from more than one person. So I thought this would be a great time to answer them ๐Ÿ™‚

#1, the hubster did not want to come. That is ok!! Truly, that is ok! He is not a road trip guy. He prefers to not have to go more than a half hour away on any given day. He also doesn’t care for flying. This is all ok. There are travelers and there are non-travelers. The important thing is that I don’t force him or try to make him feel bad; and he doesn’t try to stop me or make me feel guilty. We can both accept the level of traveling the other is on board for. See? It’s all good!!

#2, no, I’m not afraid to travel alone. I have some good traveling tips: 1) pray 2) have weapons 3) don’t stop in strange big cities (unless that is your destination) 4) read hotel ratings, and don’t stay in big cities 5) pay attention to how the local people act, you can usually read pretty quickly if outsiders are welcomed or not 6) do things like this in the picture. My hotel tonight had only one lock. I didn’t like that. So here, I made my own ๐Ÿ™‚ 7) be aware of your surroundings – this might sound hypocritical coming from someone who once tripped over a concrete bench in broad daylight. But, I am either on or off with the noticing thing ๐Ÿคฃ When I’m intentional, I’m 100%. 8) do regular check-ins with someone – it’s smart to do and it makes the other person feel safer with your travels.

Tonight I am thankful that day one went well! I am very excited for tomorrow! And, now I must get some sleep to be ready for tomorrow! Good night all!
