Melvin

At the first night’s hotel of this trip, the check in person asked if it was just me staying. I was caught off guard and said yes. Now, I have a better plan! The answer is no. It is not just me staying. It is also Melvin.

Melvin Schmidt. He can’t come in to the room. But he is traveling with me! Melvin, the minivan! Melvin was bought almost two years ago with around 20,000 miles. After finishing my minivan ownership a few vehicles ago, going back to a minivan was actually a strategic move.

Besides the storage and seating, our personal lives were going to have moving children and multi-state trips. So room for boxes and room for a full sized grown child to lay down and sleep were important! Melvin has now driven in 14 states. Tomorrow will be 15 states, since I am going home a different way than I drove down.

Tonight I am thankful for Melvin, the minivan! He is doing his job well! If he hangs for awhile, I’m thinking of driving next year to the west coast, then up thru Canada to Alaska. Melvin could go international!! Actually, maybe he has already been international. I don’t remember what I was driving when a kiddo and I skipped thru Canada on our way to Vermont a couple of years ago . .
