Changing Christmases

Christmas changes.  That wasn’t a truth that I particularly was pleased about.  It seemed that if a tradition stayed the same, it should be Christmas.

Do you know what expectations based solely on the past brings?  Disappointment.

Because whatever is in a memory, whether real or just the way you remembered it, cannot be duplicated.  It is a precious moment in time that you are so blessed to be able to carry around with you wherever you go!

Trying to make that moment again won’t happen.  That moment had its time, and that’s what makes it special.  Now is time for a new moment and a new memory.

There is a beauty in cherishing the past, holding it dear in our hearts, while breathing in the present with open arms, and looking to the future with open ambition and intentional planning.

The words here feel freeing to write, but the practice of this isn’t quite as eloquent.  I pray you keep this practice in your heart as you move thru this holiday season that may look different this year.  I know I am.

Tonight I am thankful for a weekend with lots of Christmasey activities that have helped jump start my Christmas spirit a bit more.  This year will be different, but we’ll make it good.  ❤️🎄
