I wish I wasn’t so picky. Life would be easier if I liked more foods in the “green” category. People who like all the foods; if you think picky eaters enjoy their “pickiness” you are wrong. I would love to grab a salad and enjoy that thing like it was a bag of Doritos. But my taste buds just don’t work that way.
Even so, I try. I do try here and there to eat something green. Today was one of those days.
Normally when I eat a salad, there is a thin layer of green stuff covered in eggs, cheese, meat, and slathered in ranch dressing. I did not have hard-boiled eggs ready today. And I had recently bought a raspberry vinaigrette dressing to try. See how bold I am? Ok, well maybe you don’t see it . . but I’m being very bold here with something other than ranch AND a random salad with no preparations – so mostly green stuff.
I had some parmesan chicken in the freezer. I threw that in the oven. When the ding went off; I was starting to lose my nerve on the green stuff. Nonetheless, I put some on my plate.
So . . big difference between the vinaigrette and ranch seems to be that you need to shake the vinegerrette more. I had shaken it, set it on the counter, then just grabbed it and poured. While it was pouring I noticed the raspberry part had already separated to the bottom of the jar. AND it obviously comes out a lot faster than ranch. I knew that. But, as I noticed the separated raspberry part, I wasn’t fully watching what I was doing and doused the whole plate in oil. Hmph. I removed my chicken from the oil plate and gave the chicken its own plate.
Well I found today that I don’t like green stuff with blah-unmixed raspberry oil on it. I put it in my mouth with a bite of chicken and it masked the taste a little. I choked the oily green stuff down. It was not the most pleasant experience for me.
Before eating, I did take this lovely picture and sent it to the hubster with the caption, “Parmesan chicken and green crap with the raspberry vinaigrette oil”. He wasn’t impressed with my boldness either.
Tonight I am thankful that I ate some green stuff today. I’m feeling good about it. Maybe I’ll try again next month 🙂
