The Road Less Traveled

I’ve been very blessed with travels this year. I love to travel and I’ve had many trips!

Today, in between appointments, I went on a trip that has taken me 10 months. This little dirt road with only a handful of houses on it. But, there is one special house. My parent’s old house.

In 2024, I was there a lot. Once a week in the summer to mow the lawn. And scattered times in between when I could be of help. We were already planning their move so I could be of more help. Then Marky took a turn for the worst a little sooner than we thought. He passed away, we finished the next house, and moved my Mom.

After the closing, I went out to pick up my yard sign. And I haven’t been back since January.

Today I had an appointment only a few miles away. We are less than a month from the one year anniversary of Marky’s passing. And today I felt ready to drive by.

It was good, the new owners had their fall decorations out. They haven’t changed anything. The chicken pen was still there. The only addition was a play house for their grandchildren. It was perfect.

Tonight I am thankful for a travel that was 10 months in the making. I am thankful that it was good. I didn’t cry. And it was good to see the place being taken care of and loved. ❤️
