Years ago we had a barn cat that disappeared. She reappeared well over a month later with one of her back legs a little wonky. From what I can gather, she must have broken her leg. Then she laid around letting it heal, but it healed however she was laying; which was incorrectly.
She is a barn cat. So, going in to the vet to get this leg fixed would have caused her a great deal of upsettedness. She wasn’t crying or wincing. She was perfectly fine with her crooked leg. So, she has remained as she is. When she runs, she does pick up the crooked leg and runs on three legs only. She’s pretty fast!
When it got really cold a handful of weeks ago, she invited herself inside. Glitter, that’s her name, is now pushing 10. That’s a good age for a barn cat who survived something traumatic like her. So, I looked the other way and let the old lady be inside during the cold. Then it warmed up. And I had a hard time putting her back out.
I forgot to mention that Glitter is a little too . . . fiery . . for her own good. She had been being on her best behavior when the weather was cold. With this warm up, she’s been pushing the limits and starting fights. So, she was put outside.
After her stay inside, she has been getting a little sneakier about coming back inside. I know when it warms up even more, she’ll be very happy back outside. She wasn’t made to laze about all day. 🙂
Tonight I am thankful for our silly Glitter cat! This was her sucking up this morning, pleading to be able to stay inside! And me? I’m a sucker . . yep, I let her stay. I did mention that she was inside so that someone else could put her out 🙂 So see? I was somewhat responsible . . kind of . . in a way . . 🙂
