Race Selected!

I think I have a plan! I’ve been thinking about the Dalmac bike race again for awhile. But, I have some concerns. I could totally do it by myself. That isn’t the concern. But, the last time I did it was with my kiddo. And she doesn’t live here anymore. I have plans to do the multi day, 300+ mile race again in under four years with my kiddo and a friend. But, I don’t think this year is the year for this.

I thought about just committing to riding around here. But, well, I didn’t bike much last year without a goal. I did have other family things going on that were pretty big with declining loved ones. But, it retrospect, bike riding may have been a good way to relieve stress. Or maybe not, since I didn’t feel like making it a priority. So I’m not beating myself up or anything.

Now on to this year. I want a goal. I’ve researched Michigan’s bike tours/races. Did you know that Michigan has quite the variety! Including the Marji Gesick Mountain Bike Race, which is considered “the hardest single-day mountain bike race in America”. I will NOT being doing that one this year! 🤣

Tonight I am thankful for finding a bike race to try! I have decided on the 100 mile Coast to Coast Gravel Grinder. Doing the 100 mile will not actually get me from coast to coast. That is their 200 mile grinder . . and it looks like more than I am looking for with their distance and time frame. I am good with the 100 mile! This race is two months sooner than the Dalmac, so I need to be serious with my training!

I am also thankful for a biking goal! Now, I am specifically on the hunt for a racing, mountain bike! It looks like that specific type will be important here!
