Stages

I think that a part of life that no one talks about enough is that it just takes time and trial & error to figure some things out. There will be things that you have all figured out, and then, life and trail & error shows you that there is a better way. Or at least, a way that is better for you.

I am in, what I think, is the tail end of this more recent epiphany. I’ve gone from a variety of home office spaces, to a smaller office, then to a larger professional office space, and now to a more hybrid smaller professional office space and home office. EXCEPT, now my home office ideas are changing.

These past 6 weeks of needing ridiculously large amounts of rest, working mostly from my laptop on the couch and in bed has been enlightening. Over the years, I have converted the majority of my files to be paperless, so I don’t really need a huge workspace for regular tasks. I do work well with paper when I need to be in deep thought or creative thought. But, I don’t think I need a desk space for that. The tv tray by the couch, the empty side of the bed, and the dining room table have all worked great.

I do miss having that second monitor. BUT, after my blog a day or two ago, my wonderful cousin reached out and shared some very valuable information on portable monitors. I found one on a “lightening sale” on Amazon. It was half off with a $10 coupon also! It is on its way to me!

Sooooo, it is with great excitement only a small ounce of trepidation that I can share that I am getting rid of my home office desk!!! AHHHH! Maybe this seems small to you, but this is huge to me! I found a piece of furniture on Marketplace that I am picking up this weekend. It is a great cabinet that will hold all my supplies and look stylish where my desk always seemed to look cluttered.

Tonight I am thankful for this freeing new decision! Things have been changing and will continue to change. I guess that is life, right? :) This seemingly small change will be great here! And I’m excited to try a home work life without a big ole’ standard desk!
