Broken Connection

In my list of top movies is Runaway Bride. Do you know that one? When Maggie and Ike have their first wedding, the eye contact almost makes them thru. The movie was good not letting it happen then. But, the point of that scene is important.

When they kept their eyes together, when they kept that connection, the other problems didn’t matter. The problems would have mattered later. And the problems were there before. The problems could have been dealt with and overcome after the wedding. But, they broke eye contact, their connection dropped, and all the problems came in like an avalanche.

We do that with God. Well I know I do. I do so good, keeping my eyes where they should be, staying focused, and then I slip. The problems, that I know are there regardless, come barreling in when I let my attention/connection falter. And when those problems come barreling in, they try to fill up space between me and God, so that it looks harder to get that connection back.

Tonight I am thankful that God has made a way easier than I deserve to get that intense connection back. He’s still there, waiting for my eyes to come back on him. I just need to stop staring at the problems. God wants to fix those for and with me. And that works when I’m with God and not with the problems. ❤️
