Thirty Five Years

35 years ago tomorrow there was a wedding. At White Oak park between the big pine trees by the south pavilion my Mom and Marky got married.

As far as weddings go, my kiddo-mind thought it was awesome. I was allowed to take pictures at all angles! I have always loved to take pictures. And it was fun skipping around them while they got married!

Then the newlyweds were off for a honeymoon in South Haven. They had a room on the bay and ate dinner at Clementine’s. For many of the next 34 years, they would head back to South Haven for their anniversary and have a meal at Clementine’s.

Tomorrow, for their 35th anniversary, I am going with mom to Clementine’s. Mark’s going to be looking on from Heaven, and smiling as mom eats the onion rings. I guess they are supposed to be super great there. I won’t be trying them. I don’t like onions. Oh well! More for Mom!

Tonight I am thankful that she wants to go ❤️. She wasn’t ready at his birthday. And there is absolutely no rush to her feelings or healing!! But, this will be good for her. I’m sure there’ll be some tears, but they will be the kind that stem from memories of love and not from overwhelming grief. The difference there is something to be thankful for!
