First of all, I don’t know if I’ve ever realized how there isn’t a super great angle to take a picture of an arm between the hand the elbow. I’m sure I’m over-thinking that.
Anyway, see this fresh owie just down from a scar from who-knows-what? Do you see it? I am pretty proud of what happened just before this!
I went to ninja tonight, not my normal night, and started the night on these step things that go up towards the ceiling, then back down, like a “^” shape made out of steps. The sportier kids can do this all with their arm strength. Yeah, I’m not there yet. Fortunately there is a climbing wall on the wall right with the steps. So I have my feet on the climbing wall holds and have my arms trying to do as much as they can on the step things.
I made it all the way from one end to the other! Yay! Hooray! Que the applause! I knew I could! I was so close last time!
Ok, so then I tried it a second time! And, well, my time on the obstacle AND my arm muscles both said I was about done at the middle of the thing, which is the highest point. I weighed my options. I could drop, from pretty high up. I could yell for help; but the chances of my muscles holding myself up until someone could actually bring a ladder were low. Ok, the only viable option was dropping to the ground.
I am not afraid of heights! I do have a history of injuries from stupid accidents. So, I tried to very purposefully plan this drop to the ground (with a squishy landing mat) in the 20-30 seconds my mind scrambled for a solution. Then it was time. I don’t think I intentionally let go. I think my arms were just like “Nope! Good luck girl!” and sent me on my way.
I was so focused on landing without breaking anything that I guess my arm hit one of the wall climbing holds on my way down. But, I did not hurt my legs, ankles, knees, back, hips, or anything apart from this superficial arm thing!
Tonight I am thankful for making my way across the step things one time successfully!!! And I am thankful for gracefully dropping to the ground like a lead balloon without doing any real damage to myself! Hooray!
