Compliment

One week ago a friend gave me a compliment that has meant so much!  She was speaking of me and said that I don’t talk bad about others, but when I get mad, whew!  And, wow that has just tickled my heart and made me so happy!

These are international things about me!  I have worked decades on this!  I do slip up, I am human.  But, I try not to talk bad about people.  My rule of thumb that I follow and that I have hopefully led my kiddos to follow, is to never say something behind someone’s back that you wouldn’t say to their face.  This has led to other life situations.  Because, after you have qualified to yourself that you would say this to someone’s face; it is most generally so real that you want to reach out and resolve the issue.  The discussions aren’t always comfortable.  But it sure helps you sleep at night!

The second part of her statement I have also strived towards.  “Be slow to anger” is a good rule.  It never says don’t get angry!  But being slow to anger means you don’t let everything bother you.  So guess what, by the time you get mad 1) it is usually very warranted 2) you are usually in the right, and 3) you will regret very little, if anything at all when you get mad.

Tonight I am thankful for my friend’s words a week ago.  She couldn’t have known how much this means to me.  But I will tell her!! ❤
