My Power(lines)

I think the youngest I can remember things in life was around 4 years old. We lived at the end of a trailer park community in Jackson with a field across the street. I remember a few things from living there.

Like I had a crush on a boy that lived around there. He was probably like ten years older than me. He fell one day and I ran up and kissed him on the cheek. My first kiss . . 🤣

I remember the first time I rode my bike and could keep the bent training wheels both off the ground! I remember watching the Waltons on tv and eating a sandwich in the living room one day before school when it was just my Mom and I home. The sun was shining and the windows were open. Then there was the time a hot air balloon landed at the beginning of the neighborhood and we got to walk down and see it.

And I remember one day when we walked across the field across from our house. Of course, I was little so it seemed like this giant trek across the wilderness. I remember looking down and seeing a clearing in the trees for the big power lines. From my little perspective, we could have been in a national park. I was in awe of how far I could see down the cleared line and it was all trees around the power lines!

The community has grown now. And it even has a new outlet of streets from the back. I went there today, as some misguided real estate agent listed a home in there for sale and it showed up in my search. (P.S. a manufactured home in a park where you pay lot rent is NOT real estate). But I digress, I drove down and this picture is it! This is the view and these are the power lines. My power lines! They were in my dreams last summer. And here they are. ❤️ They may not look like much, but to a little four year old girl, they were an opening to possibilities and adventure just waiting for her to get bigger and explore!

Tonight I am thankful for an inadvertent trip down memory lane today! I hadn’t paid attention to the location of the property. The listing looked comparable to the house I was appraising and it turned out an accidental inclusion in my search that made me smile at a group of powerlines 😍
