It’s been in the back of my mind that I have been getting away from actually consulting with our budget. It is so easy to just have someone make me food when I’m busy!
Today was a frustrating food day! I wanted oatmeal for breakfast. It isn’t often that I actually want oatmeal for breakfast. Usually I settle for it. I made a bowl and must have put in too much water. I was still half-asleep, so I didn’t overthink it. I gave that bowl to the dogs.
With the next bowl, I doublechecked what I added. I put it in the microwave and walked away. When the microwave dinged, the oatmeal had exploded! It was all over! I was still kind of half asleep and at that moment ready to throw the microwave tray across the room. Of course, I didn’t. I cleaned up the mess, walked out of the kitchen, and lamented the oatmeal that I wasn’t going to have. I wasn’t willing to have a third bowl disaster.
I am a very capable adult. I can make a stupid bowl of oatmeal. But apparently not today, I can’t. For the rest of the day I had popcorn, cashews, cottage cheese, and a couple of Oreos (my favorite). I wasn’t doing any cooking!
At dinner time, I still hadn’t wanted to go in to the mean kitchen that couldn’t even help a girl out with her breakfast! One of those chicken dipper things from Subway sounded really good! But, I was still working and couldn’t just leave. Out of curiosity I checked the Doordash app. I mean, this is a $3 menu item. Surely I wasn’t going to pay to have it delivered?
Yep, I did! And I don’t regret it! On one hand, it isn’t going to make or break the budget. On the other hand, I paid over double the menu price to have it brought to me. But, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and there is value in that satisfaction!
Tonight I am thankful for a Subway chicken dipper delivered right to my door! My tummy is so happy! Totally worth every penny! 😁😁
