Timing

I have been sick this week. That was a real thing. I did still fit in my regular work around being sick. I mean, it’s not like I didn’t try . . . but . . .

I was planning on started a new video series last weekend. I was just not up to videoing with logical thoughts. And this video series is the one that I’ve gotten in my head a little bit about.

At this point, I feel like I’ve gotten good at the short reels. I feel pretty comfortable with slightly longer videos for short series. I am comfortable filming, but not feeling mastery level on the even longer youtube videos. And then . . then there is this new series.

I had some good discussion and thoughts a coupe of weeks ago. Then I took a little bit to make a new plan for these longer videos. Then I was supposed to start filming last week. That moved to today.

I needed to go someplace without interruptions. When going outside of your comfort zone, it is best to not be interrupted every few minutes! Today I waited until everyone was done at the office and went there. I finished up the videos for Time 414’s Twelve Days of Thankfulness that lead up to Thanksgiving. And I got the first two sections filmed for the bigger series! Tomorrow will be more!

Then . . oh boy, then I have to work with the editing. Since changing plans on how this will run, I have think it will be a little easier. I think. I am pretty good now on editing the short things. The longer things take more concentration, need less distractions; but I don’t have the editing software on my office computer, only my home computer. It’s ok! I can do this!

I need to do a shameless plug here and mention that if you are interested in our 12 Days of Thankfulness that lead up to Thanksgiving, it is free! Head to Time 414’s social media or website to sign up.

The next video series will be Base Camp – creating a base to create a game plan that helps rebuild and strengthen the relationship for you and your teenager! This one will be the largest series that we’ve done yet. My very big goal is to have it ready by the day after Thanksgiving . . or maybe even Thanksgiving. This one will have a cost, BUT we plan on having it for free for the first 20ish people. We can get some feedback and recalibrate between Thanksgiving and Christmas; then be ready for a large scale launch for the new year.

Tonight I am thankful for some quiet filming time today. I did spend a bit of time doing other things. But, I finally buckled down and did the videos. I edited a little bit tonight. I’ll have a lot more over the next several days. It’ll be good. It’ll be worth it! And I’m excited to build deeper in to this business that has been such a blessing watching parents and teenagers reconnect!

**PS – just to update for those that know my other businesses: the real estate brokerage will continue. That is a business that I enjoy. And I am free to enjoy it because it has never been my main source of income. I can serve my clients best that way because I don’t have the temptation to push people in a situation just for a commission. I started out in this industry twenty years ago watching that to a disgusting degree and swore I would never be that way.
I will be closing the real estate appraisal business in the beginning half of next year. It has been a great business. It allowed me the flexibility to work from home while my kiddos were little. And it will always be a good part of my story. The industry has been changing quite a bit. There is always a choice. I could change my services offered. I could conform to all the changes. Or I can call it the end of my path here. With God’s calling with Time 414 and the way these industry changes are coming; it is definitely the right decision to close the business next year. It took me a little time to work thru the emotions of closing a business that was so intertwined with my family and kiddos. I have worked thru that part and am ready for my next chapter!
