Change

I’ve felt the need to write this particular blog for a few days now.  I wrote not long ago about a discussion with my son concerning our goal of paying off our house.

When I’ve shared stories for the past couple of years about our journey thru debt, I’ve been met with a few different reactions.  There is one particular reaction that I want to address.  Some people don’t believe that they could ever be free of debt.  I also didn’t think it would ever be possible for us many years ago.  Years of bad decisions and job situations had left me hopeless.  Even when I started getting hope; I hadn’t gotten mad.

I’ve shared my feelings before about getting mad – it can be a valuable tool!  Change happens when you get mad enough at where you are!  You just have to reach the point to where you’ve had enough.  You need to get “sick and tired of being sick and tired” and just decide that it is enough!

That is what happened to us.  We had been thru a rough time.  We thought we were making better decisions.  Then another big bump in the road had me questioning everything.  There HAD to be a better way of doing things.  That is what set me on a search for something different, for a different way of life!

We are all now staring at the end of an expensive shopping time.  Think of where you will be a month from now.  How long will you be paying for this Christmas?  You could decide to change now.  You could get mad at spending so much for one day and paying for it for months to come.  You can decide to CHANGE NOW.  You can return things if you’ve over-bought.  You don’t have to stay trapped.  I invite you to GET MAD at debt!

Soon we will be starting another year.  I’m not talking New Year’s Resolutions here.  I’m talking Change.  You get to decide if you want 2018 to be the year that you change your family’s history.  If my family can do it, your family can do it.

Tonight I am thankful for the chance to change. I am thankful for the chance to get mad enough to change.  Get mad at situations that aren’t good or even that aren’t good enough!  Get mad enough to change!
