A month or two ago I had an idea. I started printing off some of the memes and inspirational things that I saw online. I cut them out and taped them to my bathroom wall.
I have 3.9 teenagers in this house. And while many people are saying how rough this quarantine is and these poor teenagers . . . well, we just won’t do that here. Yes, being a teenager is hard. Yes being in quarantine is hard. Do you know what else is hard? It is hard to believe that you have no options on how to handle life . . now that is hard.
So here is what we are doing here – we are saying that you get to choose. Every day you get to get up and choose how you are going to handle this day. This does not in any way minimize that this may be difficult. This gives you power over this difficult time to decide how you are going to react to it. You don’t stare at the hard things in life. The more you stare, the bigger they seem to get!
This morning, on a Monday no less, I spent about a half hour cutting out my stack of more memes and inspirational things that I’ve been collecting. Then I spent about a half hour taping them on to my bathroom wall.
Tonight I am thankful for building an inspirational wall in my bathroom! Hey, people spend time in there! Might as well give them something good to read while they are there!
