What Love Is

A friend shared a video clip from a movie called Fireproof.  I’ve heard of the movie, but haven’t watched it yet.  The clip was good though.  It was very good.

I’m sitting here typing a conversation with a friend who is going thru a very hard time with a child.  I’m reading a comment from my blog last night where someone was insulted.  Honestly, I was still a little burned by a comment someone made last week when I shared a video clip on suicide, pretty much alleging that I don’t really care about people.

Life is hard.  Sometimes the people we love and care about make constant decisions in life that seem to intently push us away and hurt us.  Sometimes people’s feelings get hurt when there was no intention of hurting.  And sometimes you will just be judged – judged for what you do, or what you don’t do.  Sometimes this judging will come from those who speak as if their goal in life is to stand up against judgements; yet they cast the most judgements themselves.

This makes it hard to love.  This makes it so, so hard to walk in love.  Loving one another can be a very, very tiring life task.  Because love is forgiveness.  Love does not keep record of wrongdoing.  These things are hard to intentionally do.  Here, I’ll just stick it in here, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:  “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”

This is love.  This is my goal – in every day, in every moment.  Love always hopes.  Always.  Always.  Always.  It never says love is stupid.  It never says love is gullible.  Love can see reality.  But Love still always hopes.  Love is always patient.  Love is always kind.  Love hopes.  Love never fails.  Love hopes.  Yes, this is my goal.

Tonight I am thankful for love.  I cannot imagine a world without love.  I cannot imagine a Me without love.  And I don’t want to ever imagine a life without a love that comes from the greatest love of all.

Here is a link to the clip I saw tonight that changed my night and reminded me that life is not just all I can see in front of me:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0-hF-8fei8
