Dry Clothes

We’ve had a dilemma in this house.  We replaced the washing machine last year when the old one died.  We upgraded the size of the washing machine considerably to accommodate our 6 family household.

We did not upgrade the dryer.  We knew we were giving the dryer a shortened life sentence, to try to keep up with the new washing machine.  And here we are, months later, and it is dying.  It does still work (and will be for sale for a very reduced price soon!  It may live a long time for someone who treats it well . . we don’t).

I’ve been looking at dryers online.  And . . . ugh . . . it just isn’t something I’ve budgeted for.  The one that matches our washing machine was $899, currently on sale for $599.  This is still not something that I’ve budgeted for, no matter what the sale is.

Today we went to use a Groupon for the kids in Lansing.  We just happened to be by a Sears Outlet store.  I’d never been in their “Outlet” store, so we wandered in.  Turns out, this store is filled with marked down items!  Many reduced priced dryers were there!  Most of them were only reduced in price due to cosmetic reasons.  The dryer we bought had a small dent in the front and some scratches on the side.  I don’t care!!  And this dryer was just a little over $300!  It is bigger than the old dryer and will be able to handle the loads from the bigger washing machine!

So, this is funny, the price being a little over $300.  Yesterday evening I posted some items on ebay.  When they sell, they will cover the price of the dryer!  Bam!  Just like that!  The budget is happy!  And we can all wear clean and DRY clothes!  Yay!

Tonight I am thankful for finding a fantastic deal on a dryer!  I really didn’t want to pay too much for a dryer!  And, one of the best things about the new dryer, is that it is old-school.  Just turn dials for settings!  All the kids help with the laundry, so I don’t really want electronic settings.  I’m thinking, the harder it is to break – the better it is!
