There are some moments in life that a person never forgets. I remember the very few times in life when I ran out of hope. Hopelessness is not a feeling that fits with me. It is devastating and crushing.
I heard it in a woman’s voice yesterday. I was at my computer and a woman called in to the Dave Ramsey show. She had a mountain of debt and didn’t know how to get out. It was crushing her. And I heard that hopelessness in her voice. My son was in the room during this phone call. I pointed it out to him. I reminded him, This is why dad and I are doing this. We have felt this way. We don’t want you kiddos to ever feel like that. I asked him, Did you hear it? Could you hear the emotion in that woman’s voice?
He’s a little young to grasp it fully. But, he’s listening.
There is another thing I hear in people’s voices on this radio show, freedom. I hear it when they scream “I’m Debt Free!”. It makes my eyes water. You can hear it. You can feel it.
I point that out to the kids also. They see my eyes tear up. I tell them, that is where we are going. We are going to get there!
When you learn the right way to do things, it is freeing. Even with a mountain of debt, a person then has the tools to gain control of a situation that is spiraling out of control. I hear the resolve in people’s’ voices too. I hear it in myself. Some day, in the next few years, we will not owe any person on this Earth anything, but to love them.
In the meantime, I want to help them. I talked to Ramsey Solutions about becoming a Financial Peace coordinator in December. It just didn’t fit then. At the end of the Smart Money Conference, my friend said she would lead the class with me! We walked down front and got a HUGE discount on leadership materials! I am excited!
Tonight I am thankful for the opportunity to teach Financial Peace University! I am thankful for a friend to lead this with me! And I am thankful for the chance to share knowledge that is based in finances, but can bring peace in so many other areas of life too!
(P.S. Shoot me a message if you are interested in attending! We are still working out the details on where and when the classes will be!)
