I am accident-prone. Ok, not really. I’m a klutz. Yep, that’s me. Klutz. I have felt sorry for my children on several occasions for having to be near me. I spilled a drink on one of my children before in a restaurant . . ok, that happened on more than one occasion. I’ve dropped their food on the floor. I’ve fallen stepped on their toys and broken them.
Today, I accidentally stepped on my son’s finger on his field trip. Later, I reached for him and my finger went somewhere close to his eye. He said I poked his eye, but I think I got the corner of it. It didn’t turn red or water a lot. Whew!
Back at the school he earned extra recess time and for some reason wanted me to come with him to play basketball. I don’t even know who tripped who, but he’s smaller and went down first. I almost fell on top of him, but got over him before I actually fell completely to the ground. Yay! I didn’t crush my child! Hooray!
Ugh, tonight I am thankful that the kids are tough! And I am thankful that I didn’t crush my child! (Believe it or not, that is not the first time that I’ve been thankful for these things! Klutziness is not something that can be fixed by reading a parenting magazine or a self-help magazine or walking with a book on your head or a number of other things that have been suggested to me over the years!!)
