Today was the first DCAA football game of the season! Hooray!
I’ve been looking forward to this season! This will be my last season as a coach! I’ve been looking forward to this for about eight years!! I was never looking to be a coach. My daughter just wanted to be a cheerleader and there was no one to coach.
This turned in to a LOT more than I ever planned. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I’m really not even good at cheerleading.
Today, sitting at the field, it hit me in a little bit of a sad way. There is a part that I will miss next season. I love the girls. I love getting to know them! And I love watching them get excited and proud of themselves!
Don’t get me wrong, I am still very happy that this is the last season of myself as a coach! I have enjoyed these kids! And I have made some great friendships with coaches! I never would have dreamed of any of this eight years ago!
Tonight I am thankful, yes thankful, for that moment eight seasons ago when I agreed to “help out” for a year as a coach. God sure grew something great out of that moment! ❤
