When I was 17 I graduated high school and started a full time job the week after graduating. My Marky had gotten me a summer time gig in the engineering department of a manufacturing plant, cleaning up their CAD files. I worked there for a few months, then left for college.
I got engaged while at college and moved back home. I applied at the same manufacturing plant and got hired in to the quality department as a full time job that was permanent this time. I was 18 then, working full time during the day, going to college at night, and not quite like the rest of the people who worked there.
The receptionist was super friendly. She was always chatty and made me feel welcome. Over my time there, I probably spent a little bit too much time up at reception chatting with her. She invited me to her home a couple of times. She was a friend.
Tonight I am thankful for knowing her. You never forget someone who was kind to you. Her friendship meant a lot to me at a time when life was always changing. We’ve kept in touch here and there throughout the years. Thank goodness for social media or we would have lost touch years ago. She will always have a place in my heart ❤
